DNS Hijacking by Indonesian Government – A Call for Global Awareness

Hi all,
I’m bringing attention to a major issue currently affecting internet users in Indonesia. The government, via partnerships with national ISPs like Moratel, is actively hijacking DNS queries and redirecting domains they deem “unwanted” to censorship gateways — without transparency or opt-out.

I’ve confirmed this with dig queries showing DNS poisoning, where clean domains like voctoto.org are pointed to censorship nodes (trustpositif.moratelindo.io). This is done at the resolver level, completely bypassing user control.

This is not just content blocking — it’s full DNS-level hijacking that affects not only locals but foreign users accessing Indonesian infrastructure.
